FROM THE CRADLE TO CRADLE OF FILTH

As I was sick of the smurf´s LP in 1980 I heard on December 8th, that John Lennon was murdered. On this way, I was beginning with interesting me into the Beatles works. For further 6 years I didn´t want to listen to any other band. Disco music or happy music was nothing for me and isn´t it to this time. I prefered the later LPs of the Beatles, because they are on progressive style and some of them let me feel a new kind of daramatical and melancholical ambient. To this day Abbey Road is my favorite album of the Beatles.

1986 I met new mates and in order of that a new kind of music that they called "Heavy Metal". My first heavy metal album was an Best Of LP of Accept (Germany). Furtherly I bought albums form Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Helloween and all the other bands that were famous for good metal in the late eighties and the early nineties. Nevertheless this kind of metal wasn´t dark enough for me. On my later paths I began interesting in Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne and in 1998 Dream Theater, to the same time the finnish underground band "Waltari". With their album Death Metal Opera in Deep C I had my first symphonic metal CD, that I have listened to for so many times. It´s very extreme and was recorded with a real symphonic orchestra in background. On this way it pointed out for me, that the Northerns are creating the music, that I like. Symphonic Metal. Nightwish, Within Temptation have been my new kind of metal to later times.

In 2002 there was another finnish band, called Skyfire. Church´s organ in background. First album with black metal voice for me. Another musical highlight. Once, as I drove my quattro and my former common-law wife was with me I turned this CD very loud, but in the car it sounded not like at home. There was some strange squealing and growling. It didn´t came frome Skyfire´s vocalist. It was Susi, screaming "Turn this shit off" :o).

In 2006 fortunatly I came to know to a gothic girl. She gave me a CD of the Deathstars (Sweden) and I listened to this album "Termination Bliss" very often. So I went on search for music that is similar. Another gothic girl recommended to try it with cradle of Filth. I had a look at some music videos. I was very impressed and decided to order a CD. At first Lovecraft & Witch Heart, then Damnation And A Day, Cruelty And The Beast and so on. Now my Music is symphonic Metal. Nightwish and Within Temptation are not forgotten. But today, 15. November 2008 No.1 band is Cradle Of Filth. This music is other like the others. Sometimes I could think it is specially made for me. All compares and I can listen to this music so often and find undiscovered, new passages. It never gets boring. A feeling, that I know from my earliest Beatles times. Also made in England :o). All Cradle Of Filth albums are excellent. But the best of the excellent for me are "Damnation And A Day" and "Godspeed On The Devil´s Thunder". And I bought the classical interpretation of Cradle Of Filth songs from "Scorched Earth Orchestra".

Also I am listening often to Dimmu Borgir and Stormlord (Italy).

Reader of these lines, if you can recommend to me a similar band, that also create symphonic (black) metal, please let me know. Thanks in advance :o)
